A Daughter’s Ordeal 2020 Film Review:
Any attempt to warn viewers about what they post on social media was completely lost in a plot that failed to tie the characters together in any meaningful way. In “Friends Who Kill” (a.k.a., “A Daughter’s Ordeal”), it was never made clear what was the motivation for Cassie’s diabolical goal of violently disrupting the family life of her new friend, Lacey.
Lacey’s mom Hope was a hard-working attorney and was not neglectful of her daughter. Yet Cassie seemed to feel that Hope was not worthy of her beautiful daughter.The pacing of the film was inordinately slow, and the action was predictable, especially in Cassie’s attempt to eliminate Lacey’s bestie, Harper, from her life. Much more interesting than the main plot was the legal case of Hope and her fellow attorney Nina. If the film could have developed that intriguing courtroom drama, it might have held more interest to the viewer.
