Sonoko (Eri Murakawa) enters into an arranged marriage with Amamiya (Kento Hayashi) setup by her parents. The couple try to have a child, but they are not in love. Sonoko moves to Kyoto due to her husband’s work and lives at a boarding house. There, she meets Ochi (Masanobu Ando). Ochi is her husband’s superior at work. Sonoko falls in love for the first time.
瀬戸内寂聴が1957年、瀬戸内晴美時代に発表した同名小説を映画化。「海を感じる時」の安藤尋が監督、村川絵梨が主演を務め、傷つきながらも女としての性愛を貫くヒロインの姿を描いた恋愛ドラマ。親が決めた許嫁の雨宮と結婚し、息子ももうけた園子だったが、そこに愛情はなかった。転勤となった夫について京都に移住し、そこで出会った夫の上司・越智と恋に落ちた園子は、生まれて初めての恋に戸惑いながらも、越智との逢瀬を重ねていく。園子役を村川が体当たりで熱演したほか、夫・雨宮役で林遣都、越智役で安藤政信が共演。
